InRoads v8.9 Quick Start

There's a lot of verbiage on InRoads Settings starting at our InRoads Home Page.

Copy the InRoads_89.xin to your project working directory.  You will want to be able to write to it.

This new file will not look as pretty as the old v8.5 file, initially, but the "under the hood" stuff is designed to easily port to and integrate with the Site Group, other KHA offices nationwide, and quickly accept the new CalTrans Leveling Standards when they come out.  The old v8.5 file will not port from the old v7 leveling well at all.

Set up InRoads Project Defaults (InRoads>File>Project Defaults) to point to your copy of the Preference file (see the InRoads Help for details or the Exploring InRoads manual for details).

When creating Horizontal Alignments or Features (as in creating InRoads Typical Sections) use the Styles consistent with this Preference files.  Do not use "Default" as a Style or "Uncontrolled" as Feature Style.  Ever.  It's easy to create new Styles, if necessary.

Don't Bogart that Improvement

Many commands have not yet been set up properly.  If you have to change settings to match a clients standards, please save the changes as a command Preference and notify Jeff so that he can incorporate the changes into the master Preference file.  More information can be found at Managing InRoads Preferences.
