Sharing InRoads Updates!

Goal: Let's get our Primary InRoads Tools looking the way we need them to

First:

Copy WIP_civ_khaCT7+.xin in the main InRoads Settings folder to your "special location"

Making changes to the Preferences

overview on saving preferences

If there are a number of Preferences available, load them up and find the best to modify.

When pretty, save a new preference with a new descriptive name and keyword (for example, ImpCT_existing-Jeff).  You'll want to be consistent with the keyword so that you can send me all your changes with a single use of the Xini Manager.  Please note: that the only opportunity to document what the Preference is for is in the Preference Name.  Please be explicit now, we can abbreviate later if we need to.

When your ready to share, follow the steps on the Xini Manager page to get your updates to me.

Never deviate from using Named Symbologies everywhere in Commands.  If you need to create a new Named Symbology for a particular use, do it.

Specifics

CalTrans default scale is 1"=50'.  Other scales can be accommodated by the Global Text Scale Factor (InRoads>Tools>Options>>Factors) for most items (annotation size, in particular).

Profiles and Cross Sections are examples of commands that often need different settings for large scale and for small scale.  If you need to have different settings due to scale include the scale in the Preference names.

Feature Styles and Named Symbologies

If you need to modify a Feature Style or a Named Symbology, the best way to do it is to do the modification and then copy the Feature Style or Named Symbology to one with your keyword appended.

Note: All Text Definitions in Preferences and Named Symbologies should refer to a Text Style.  If you're not getting text styles to show up, holler.
