InRoads Set up Plan

...for the KHA SD Roadway Group

1st Primary Goal:

Get InRoads set up for CalTrans Standards

Engineering/Modeling Settings

For example:  Superelevation tables, design checks, HDM Settings where applicable.

Graphics

Sheet settings, all graphic representation of the engineering, labels...

Two "Aspects" of this Graphics Standards Conformance:

  1. Physical Characteristics (location, orientation, size, spacing (as in contours and grids)).
  2. Symbology (level, color, weight, style, font, etc.).

Current Plan

Assign folks to make sure specific commands in InRoads provide CalTrans-compliant Physical Characteristics (Symbology can be deferred for now).  Here are instructions for how to work:

Deadlines:

On Wednesday, Dec. 12, I'll QC and synthesize everything I will have received into a new .xin.  Feel free to send me stuff prior to that.

Background:

An "infrastructure" for the symbology has been set up (Level libraries, Text Styles and Named Symbologies using them) and provide a good start.

Symbology will be changing a bit as we determine the specifics of our Enhanced Productivity Superset.  As long as we consistently use Named Symbologies in our Command preferences, we can easily update the symbology as the definition solidifies.

Jeff's first pass through the commands in InRoads was to assign an appropriate Named Symbology to every element InRoads places.  The Named Symbologies attributes were set up for "Bylevel" rather than hardcoding the colors, weight, etc.  Assuming the level library were set up properly a large fraction of the elements should look good.  The remainder probably need to be hard coded as appropriate.

Jeff's first pass set up a bit of the Physical Characteristics, but not much.

Here's the Command List.
